Privacy Policy
Effective 2026-09-03 · Last updated 2026-09-03
Adornize works by looking at photographs of you and your clothes. That makes this document unusually important, so it is written plainly rather than defensively: what we collect, where it goes, and what you can do about it.
The short version. We store your account details, your style preferences, and the photos you add — your selfie and pictures of your clothing. To turn those photos into outfit advice we send them to Google's AI services for processing. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising. You can delete your account from inside the app at any time.
1. Who we are
Adornize (“we”, “us”) is a mobile application operated by Adornize Team, TBD: registered address. We are the data controller for the information described in this policy.
This policy covers the Adornize mobile app and this website. It does not cover the retailer websites we may link you to, which have their own policies.
2. What we collect
Information you give us
| Data | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Email address, name | Sign-up | To create and identify your account |
| Password (stored only as a cryptographic hash) | Email sign-up | To sign you in. We never store the password itself |
| Google or Facebook account ID and profile picture | If you use social sign-in | To create your account without a password |
| Gender, age range, style preferences and dislikes, questionnaire answers | Onboarding | To personalise recommendations |
| Photographs of you and of your clothing | When you add them | See Your photos |
| Notes, outfit names, wishlist entries, chat messages you send the styling assistant | In use | To provide the feature you are using |
Information collected automatically
- Approximate location — only if you grant location permission, and only to fetch local weather so outfit suggestions match the conditions. We use it to look up the forecast; we do not build a location history.
- Calendar events — only if you connect your calendar. We read event titles and times so suggestions can match what you are doing. You can disconnect at any time.
- Diagnostic data — if the app crashes or errors, we collect the technical details of the failure (error message, screen, device model, OS version) together with your user ID. Crash reports are configured to exclude your photos, and we do not attach screenshots.
- Basic service logs — requests to our servers are logged with timing and status for reliability and abuse prevention.
3. Your photos
This is the part worth reading carefully.
- Your selfie is used to analyse your colouring — skin tone, and the colour palettes that suit it. It is stored against your profile so the analysis persists between sessions.
- Photos of your clothing are analysed to identify the garment, its category, colours, fabric and fit, and to cut the item out from its background so it can appear in your wardrobe.
- Generated images. Some features create new images — for example previewing an outfit — which may be produced from a photo of you. These are stored with your account.
Photographs are stored in private cloud storage. They are not public, and links to them are time-limited and signed. We do not use your photos to advertise to you, we do not sell them, and we do not publish them.
Detecting clothing on your device. The first pass that finds garments in a photo runs locally on your phone, and those images are not uploaded for that step. Photos are uploaded when a feature needs server-side analysis — identifying a garment in detail, refining a cutout, or generating a preview.
4. How we use it
- To provide the service: building your wardrobe, analysing your colouring, suggesting outfits, planning your week.
- To personalise recommendations to your stated preferences, your wardrobe, the weather, and your calendar.
- To operate and secure the service — authentication, rate limiting, abuse prevention, and fixing faults.
- To communicate with you about your account, such as verification or security notices.
We do not sell your personal information, share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, or use your photos to train our own models. If we ever want to use submitted images to improve detection quality, we will ask for your explicit opt-in consent first, separately from this policy.
5. AI processing
Adornize uses third-party artificial-intelligence services operated by Google to understand your photos and generate suggestions. When you use a feature that needs it, the relevant content — which may include a photo of you or your clothing, plus context such as your style preferences — is transmitted to Google for processing and the result is returned to us.
These services are used as a processor on our instructions, under Google's enterprise terms for their AI platform. Note that AI output can be wrong: styling suggestions, garment identifications and generated images are recommendations, not statements of fact.
6. Who we share with
We share personal data only with service providers who process it on our behalf, and only as needed to run the service.
| Recipient | What they receive | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Google Cloud Platform | All stored data and media | Hosting, database, file storage |
| Google AI services (Gemini, Imagen) | Photos and text sent for analysis or generation | Garment recognition, colour analysis, outfit suggestions, image generation |
| Google Sign-In / Apple Sign-In | Authentication exchange | Social sign-in, if you choose it |
| Google Calendar | Read access to your events | Only if you connect your calendar |
| Open-Meteo | Approximate coordinates | Weather forecast. No account or identifier is sent |
| Google Programmable Search | Search terms for items | Finding shoppable items matching a suggestion |
| Error-reporting provider | Technical failure details and your user ID | Diagnosing crashes and errors |
We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our Terms, or in connection with a merger or acquisition — in which case we will notify you.
7. Legal bases (EEA and UK users)
- Performance of a contract — providing the features you signed up for.
- Consent — camera, photo library, location and calendar access, each of which you grant explicitly and can withdraw in your device settings. Where your selfie is treated as sensitive data, we rely on your explicit consent.
- Legitimate interests — keeping the service secure, preventing abuse, and fixing faults.
- Legal obligation — where we must retain or disclose information by law.
8. How long we keep it
We keep your account data and content for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, we delete the associated records as described below. Diagnostic and crash data is retained by our error-reporting provider for a limited period (typically 30–90 days) and then discarded. Backups may persist for up to 30 days before being overwritten.
9. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent. Residents of California, and of other US states with comparable laws, have rights to know, delete, correct, and to opt out of sale or sharing — we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined.
You can exercise most of these directly in the app: edit your profile, delete individual photos or garments, disconnect your calendar, or delete your account entirely. For anything else, contact us at privacy@adornize.com. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Camera, photo library, location and calendar permissions can be revoked at any time in your device settings. Revoking them disables the features that depend on them but does not delete data already collected.
10. Deleting your account
You can delete your account from within the app. Doing so permanently removes your account record, profile, style preferences, wardrobe items, outfits, plans, wishlist, chat history, calendar connection and analysis results from our database. This cannot be undone.
Stored image files are removed on a subsequent cleanup pass rather than instantly. If you want confirmation that your images have been erased, or want them erased immediately, email privacy@adornize.com and we will confirm in writing.
11. Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes. Media is held in private storage reachable only through short-lived signed links, and access to production systems is restricted. Calendar credentials are encrypted at rest. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Children
Adornize is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. In the EEA and UK the minimum age is 16 unless local law sets it lower. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
13. International transfers
We operate in the United States, and our providers may process data there and elsewhere. Where data is transferred out of the EEA or UK, we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or another approved safeguard.
14. Changes
We may update this policy. If the changes are material we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
